Angela Gervasi is a freelance writer and radio journalist currently based in the border community of Nogales, Arizona.

Previously, Angela worked for the Nogales International newspaper, where she broke stories on issues ranging from a large-scale embezzlement scheme to a doctor accused of sexual assault while continuing to treat patients. She also covered the cross-border economy, migration and environmental issues.

Angela also previously worked as a radio reporter and host for NPR’s Morning Edition at KNAU, a Flagstaff-based member station.

In past years, she’s reported on censorship of dissident artists in Havana, Cuba; produced podcast episodes about life in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands; and created a photography book about the binational Santa Cruz River.

Her work has been featured in the Associated Press, NPR, Vox Media, WHYY News, and The New Humanitarian among other outlets. She’s a Princeton in Latin America finalist and Temple University President’s Scholar,. In 2022, she was the recipient of the Arizona Newspaper Association’s statewide Journalist of the Year award.
